RIO
How to get to RIO’s spectacular Christ The Redeemer (by train)
RIO
Perhaps the most famous landmark in Rio is Christ the Redeemer. One of the 7 wonders of the modern world, the iconic statue stands tall atop Corcovado Mountain, overlooking the city and providing breathtaking views. It’s a symbol of Brazil’s strong Catholic heritage and a reminder of the country’s spiritual roots. Visit Christ the Redeemer at sunrise or sunset, when the light hits the statue just right. The view is truly awe-inspiring. You can get to Christ the Redeemer with or without a travel company on foot, by van, or by train. My preference is to take the train leaving from the historic Corcovado Station.
Historic Train Trip to Christ the Redeemer:
- Travel to the historic Corcovado Station at Rua Cosme Velho, 513 Cosme Velho – Rio de Janeiro – RJ.
- Train tickets can be purchased at the station or online. Check out this link for helpful details or to buy tickets. Ticket prices are ~$117 Real and include park admission.
- The train will take you through Tijuca National Park up to the base of the statue. Going up, the right side of the train car offers some stunning views.
- You can pack a lunch or eat at the cafe at the base of the statue, where you’ll be treated to magnificent views of the cityscape.
- Head back to the train for your return trip.
